I wrote previously about wanting to develop a better sense of my design aesthetic, so now I am beginning the exploration exercises that are in Suzy Furrer’s Bluprint/Craftsy classes. I don’t have access to a lot of magazines so instead I turned to Unsplash and gathered a bunch of black and white images that appeal to me. The exercise is to create a collage that takes up two pages in your sketchbook, but since I’m doing this digitally, I had to put them into a collage page on Canva.
Here is my black and white aesthetic mood board:
What these all have in common as I see it:
- strong, clear lines
- geometric shapes AND organic shapes
- a lack of frills and puffiness
- interesting perspectives
So that was interesting… I’m on to the colours exercise next.
